Chinese Charger Plate Famille Vert Pattern

Chinese Kangxi Period Charger Dish.

A large famille verte* charger from the later end of the Kangxi period (late 17th/early 18thC). The octagonal rim has a moulded tooth border (see images).The central scene is of birds in a Chinese garden landscape. This scene in turn in enclosed in a ju-i head border. Outside this we have a continuous pattern of flower heads and phoenix in flight.

The condition of this Chines charger is good. It has been damaged in the past but it has had very high quality and very professional restoration.

This piece is 300 years old. It’s shape and colours are very distinctive and it’s very beautiful. It displays itself extremely well.

*The classification by colour and design is a common way to identify Chinese ceramics. The Kangxi period used much Famille Verte during it’s 1662-1722 duration. NB Famille Jaune is yellow, Noire is black and Rose is more soft colours such as pink or purple – considered to be only for foreigners by the Chinese!.
